Atlantic Hotel reaches web awards final as 20% of visitors click to 'book now'
One of the Channel Islands’ most prestigious hotels - The Atlantic Hotel (www.theatlantichotel.com) in St Brelade, Jersey - has been shortlisted to receive an award in the inaugural caterersearch.com Web Awards.
The site was designed by The Atlantic Hotel’s digital partner Fortune Cookie.
Since the site re-launched earlier this year online conversion (the ‘look-to-book’ ratio) has improved dramatically. 20% of visitors to the site now click the ‘Book now’ button, a conversion rate that is considerably higher than the industry average.
The Atlantic Hotel faces stiff competition in the ‘Hotel Website – Independent’ category from Scottish golf and spa resort Gleneagles and The Ritz in London. The awards will be judged by a panel of web specialists and industry operators.
As a finalist, the site is also shortlisted for the ‘Website of the Year’ award, the result of which will be decided by a public vote. Anyone wishing to vote for The Atlantic Hotel is asked to visit http://www.caterersearch.com/blogs/hospitality-web-awards/shortlist.html where they can register their vote up until midnight on Wednesday 29 October 2008.

“To find ourselves nominated for this award alongside world class brands such as The Ritz and Gleneagles is a fantastic reward for all the hard work that went into the project.”
Patrick Burke, Managing Director, The Atlantic Hotel
The awards, which are in association with Nestle Professional, were launched arlier this year to recognise the tremendous growth of the internet as a tool for business in the catering industry. With 12 categories they reward the organisations and individuals involved in designing, managing, marketing or promoting them, judged on criteria including visual design, innovation, content, interactivity, ease of use, commercial success or potential and overall user experience.
The Atlantic Hotel’s managing director Patrick Burke said: “To find ourselves nominated for this award alongside world class brands such as The Ritz and Gleneagles is a fantastic reward for all the hard work that went into the project. It is a real honour for a small family business to be recognised in such exalted company.”
In April, The Atlantic Hotel reached the final of the Travolution Awards in the ‘Best Hotel Website’ category.
The caterersearch.com Web Awards will be presented on 17 November 2008 at an invitation-only event at the Imagination Gallery in London.
